The first problem with this double pack is that, having tried 3 of them, I can state with some confidence that the "Jinx at the Sphinx" doesn't work properly.

Characters don't appear which means clues can't be found and puzzles can't be played.
This is a great shame because the layout is good and from what did work, I imagine it would be quite fun.

The other game in the double pack - "the Glowing Bug Man" played fine.

I bought this for my 4 year old son. I know the game is for 5 -8 year olds, but my son regularly plays games within this age category so I thought it would be enjoyable for him.

Unfortunately, the puzzles were repetetive.
2 of them were a little beyond him:
the ant puzzle (where you separate red ants and black ants) is actually very boring. You open the gates and wait until the bugs find their own way home. There's very little skill or intelligence needed and it quickly becomes tedious.

The game where you sort ice-cream flavours is fun for my son because of its silliness. It would take a lot of practice before he was able to do this himself though.

The game where you move blocks out of the way so a dinosaur head can be rolled out of the store is perfectly possible for him to do on his own and he enjoyed it.
The same can be said for sorting the coloured stones.

The carpet puzzle was just too difficult. Not only that but it's repetetive. He found it frustrating.

Finally, working out who actually is behind the costume needs some help...

This game is too advanced for 5 year olds to play on their own. Which is fine if you and your child are happy to play it together. But not if your child likes the independence of working things out on his own.

I imagine for older children, it would be too slow moving and repetetive.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend it.

Both of these games are challenging and interesting, especially for Scooby fans. The puzzles get small minds working (and in some cases bigger minds too) without being impossible, and are a pleasant change from 'action packed' platform games. Both games have a story line and can be played many times as the puzzles, clues and culprit change every time you play.

I would definitely recommend the games to children from 4 to about 10 although the younger player might need a little help reading some parts.
