Entertaining July 18, 2010 Ms. R. K. H. Chapman As always John Barrowman is honest and entertaining. An insight into his family life and relationships and covering the more recent years of his career. A good read with fun personal pictures.
Biographies June 9, 2010 Michelle Stiles (New York, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently purchased both this and Anything Goes. Absolutely wonderful. Both of them. I personally am not really a big fan of biographies or autobiographies in general. John's are the only ones that I have ever wanted to read and actually purchased. These are a must have for any John Barrowman fan.
Entertaining March 28, 2010 D. Bates (Chesterfield, UK) As with John Barrowman's first book I read this over two days. It is easy to read and flows through from one chapter to the next. His stories are entertaining. His love for his family and partner shine through the pages. There were some recollections that had me crying tears of laughter (try page 27 where he recalls his attempts at entertaining his niece and nephew using a folding bed.... and his brothers understanding of what a brothel is.. priceless). I would highly recommend this book.
A PERSONAL PROFILE OF JOHN February 2, 2010 M. Macnair (SCOTLAND) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This autobiography tells you all you want to know about John, his family and friends and his beloved Dogs.......I found the emotive parts came over very clearly and was drawn into the book by the personal way in which it is written.
I have always liked John...after reading this, I like him even more.
Wonderful and warm January 22, 2010 John's Altar (Arizona) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was wonderful and warm, an invitation from John to come into his home, relax in the living room, and listen to him tell funny and personal stories about himself and his very close knit family. From the way his sister, Carole, wrote it, you can hear John speaking throughout the book.
This book and the first book, Anything Goes, shouldn't be compared. These really are two different stories. Anything Goes is about John's career to date, I Am What I Am is about the person. Get the first if you're interested in a successful career, get the second if you're interested in John the person.
Personally, I wouldn't mind at all having John, Scott and the dogs as my next door neighbors.
