Amazon.co.uk Review
The animated pooch detective returns in Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, which packs a wealth of ghostly villains from the Saturday morning cartoon into one movie. When Mystery Inc. opens a museum exhibit of costumes of their old foes, a new masked foe appears and steals everything--and before you know it, all the costumes come to life, chasing Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Velma (Linda Cardellini), Shaggy (Matthew Lillard), and the computer-animated Scooby Doo all over Coolsville. It's no better or worse than the first Scooby Doo movie. Watching live-action scenes that you've previously seen in two dimensions is vaguely uncanny; it's like deja vu turned inside out. Also featuring the weirdly unsynchronized lips of Alicia Silverstone, Seth Green, and Peter Boyle. --Bret Fetzer

4 out of 5 stars Zoinks they did it again   October 24, 2008
wow!so much better then the first film!for starts the characters act more like the orginal characters,Velma is more geeky, fred is less vein more matcho,Daphne is less like buffy the vampier slayer however she still has another fight scean!Daphne would never fight with a monster she would probabily get kidnapped by it.shaggy and scooby where excellent as they where in the first movie.the story is very good it makes me feel like im watching a classic scooby doo cartoon.a must for any scooby fan!

Even faster and more OTT than the first.
If you want something amusing go elsewhere - if you want something wonderfully daft this is it!

4 out of 5 stars Much Better than the First Scooby Doo movie   June 23, 2007
Mr. Ross Maynard (Glasgow, Scotland)
The first Scooby Doo movie was pleasantly watchable fun. Scooby Doo 2 is better. It has a much stronger plot with real menace at times, a better script, more impressive effects, and better characterisation. I am very impressed by it as a family fun film.

4 out of 5 stars I Enjoyed It More Then the First   February 22, 2007
Mark Baker (Santa Clarita, CA United States)
It's a big night in Coolsville. A museum is opening and its main exhibit is a tribute to the Mysteries, Inc. gang featuring the costumes of many of the creatures they've defeated over the years. Naturally, everyone is on hand for the opening. But things don't go smoothly. Much to everyone's shock, the Pterodactyl Ghost comes to life and starts flying around the museum. When Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) and Scooby-Doo try to stop it, they make a mess of the museum.

Fred (Freddie Prinz, Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), and Velma (Linda Cardellini) immediately spring into action trying to figure out how and why the monster came to life. The obvious suspect is Old Man Wickles (Peter Boyle), a former foe just released from jail.

When more of their former foes come to life, the townspeople turn against the gang. Can they stop the monsters, stay alive, and solve the mystery?

I haven't seen many of the cartoon episodes, but this movie actually made me wish I had. These monsters were creepy yet cool at the same time. Overall, the story was much better then the original movie with several viable suspects. Shaggy and Scooby attempt to shed their goofy image and gather actual clues, but on the whole, the gang even works together this time. Once again, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini are the standouts of the cast, while Seth Green and Alicia Silverstone are great additions this time around.

This sequel should appeal more to fans of the series. While forgettable, it's also good for a couple hours entertainment.
