| Customer Reviews: Scooby Doo Pirates Peril Game July 26, 2010 Bluemeerkat My 4 year old Scooby-Doo-mad son received this toy as a gift and he loved it. I was impressed too so in turn I bought it and we gave it as a birthday gift to another Scooby-Doo-mad friend of his. They are both very happy - what more can I say?! If you are buying for a 4-6 ish child who loves Scooby-Doo then I don't think you can go too far wrong.
Truly abysmal - you get what you pay for. May 11, 2010 A. Downes (north wales) This looked like a more fun alternative to Screwball Scramble for ages 3+. The object of the 'game' is to get the ball from the skulls head at the front of the ship to the pirates nest at the top. Allegedly the players take turns and the winner is the one who does it the quickest. Which, in principle is a superb idea. The deck wobbles and is 'controlled' by two purple cannons. Then the ball is flicked up the stairs at the back of the ship, then you have to time it just right to get it round a gutter, past a moving scooby doo (and this is where the problems begin) onto a very weak magnet. Which is completely and utterly impossible (this is a major disappointment to 5-7 year olds). The magnet isn't strong enough to carry the heavy ball bearing, and even if it were, it doesn't line up with the gutter, or sweep high enough to be able to 'hook' the ball. The centre mast of the ship is so wobbly that there is absolutely zero chance that any player aged 3+ (including 37+) can achieve this impossible task. If you ignore this minor critical oversight, and place the ball on the middle bit, it won't roll round the other side and into the bucket, and even if it did, it's nigh on impossible to get the bucket up to the top, without it flipping the bucket upside down and trapping the ball inside, getting itself stuck so you can't get it out without (once again) resorting to flicking the ball again and trapping your fingers in between the bucket and the top level. When it reaches the top, things get worse, as the ball rolls round and sticks in another scooby thing. Which doesn't do anything, at all.
Utterly useless, My wife is so disgruntled, I believe she's going to challenge the people in the shop where I bought it, to finish it without using (or losing) their fingers. If they fail, She'll be asking for a refund. I'll put money on her being successful.
I can only assume the previous reviewer gave the present to their kids and didn't hear from them for an day or two, and hence thought it was great.
Save yourself an afternoon's grief and buy Screwball scramble instead.

Superb toy, both my nephews loved it. Highly recommeded. Would buy this kind of toy again.
